Fantasy Team Of The Week - GW1

GW1 has been and gone. We take a look back at the best performers this week including, Jamie Vardy, Jorginho & Gabriel in our Fantasy Team of the Week.

Vicente Guaita – Crystal Palace (£5m) – 10 pts

Highlighting the importance of having a busy keeper in your side, Palace stopper Guaitia earned 5 bonus save points, along with his clean sheet and appearance points.

Gabriel  – Arsenal (£5m) – 15 pts

The perfect debut for the new Gunners signing, who scored and helped Arsenal keep a clean sheet on his way to 15 points. He did get lucky early on, though, when he nearly let Fulham in to score.

Romain Saiss – Wolves (£5m) – 15 pts

A great early start for Wolves, as Saiss and Jimenez put Nuno’s side 2-0 up within 10 minutes. That ended up being enough for a win and a huge 15 points for Saiss.

Reece James – Chelsea (£5m) – 14 pts

The young right back got the nod over Cesar Azpilicueta and repaid Lampard’s faith with a thunderbolt and an assist. If Chelsea could have kept a clean sheet, James would have been the highest scoring defender.

Timothy Castagne – Leicester (£5.5m) – 14 pts

A goal on debut for new Foxes right back Castagne and a 3-0 victory led the Belgian to achieving 12 points in GW1. Castagne looks a threat going forward, one to keep an eye on.

Lucas Digne – Everton (£6m) – 12 pts

Digne showed his quality of delivery once again as his fantastic cross set up Dominic Calvert Lewin for a cracking header to earn the Toffees a superb 1-0 win away at Spurs.

Mo Salah – Liverpool (£12m) – 20 pts

The highest scoring player in GW1 was Liverpool’s Egyptian King, who hit a hat trick against newly promoted Leeds. Salah scored 2 penalties in the game, highlighting the importance of picking set piece takers.

Willian – Arsenal (£8.1m) – 14pts

Arsenal’s latest Chelsea signing Willian got off to a cracking start. The Brazilian winger provided all 3 assists in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory against Fulham.

Jeff Hendrick – Newcastle (£5m) – 14pts

Highly underrated Hendrick helped his new side Newcastle get off to a perfect start against West Ham. The Irishman contributed a goal and an assist. He also picked up the bonus point that midfielders get for clean sheets.

Jorginho – Chelsea (£5m) – 12pts

Not many expected the Italian midfielder to still be at Stamford Bridge. However, Jorginho proved what we have been saying. Set piece takers are important. Jorginho scored one of his textbook hop, skip and jump penalties.

Jamie Vardy – Leicester (£10m) – 13 pts

The only striker to make the team of the week was last season’s golden boot winner Jamie Vardy. The former England international smashed in 2 penalties as Leicester kicked off with a 3-0 win over West Brom.
