FPL Team Of The Week - GW23

This week's highest scoring players.

FPL Team Of The Week - GW23

FPL Team of the Week – GW23 is here, who are the best players this week? How much pain has benched players DCL and Dallas caused?

Goalkeeper

Illan Meslier – Leeds – 10 pts

The young keeper continues his impressive season with a clean sheet against Crystal Palace in a 2-0 win.

Defenders

Stuart Dallas – Leeds – 12 pts

Lewis Dunk – Brighton – 9 pts

Dunk scored the opener for Brighton, which unfortunately for Graham Potter’s side, was not enough to claim all 3 points.

Kenny Tete – Fulham  – 9 pts

Tete was impressive in Fulham’s well-earned point against West Ham. Scott Parker deserves credit for the way Fulham have played the past couple of months, with a bit of extra quality they could’ve been higher up the league.

Midfielders

Phil Foden – Manchester City – 16 pts

Miguel Almiron – Newcastle – 15 pts

Slightly fortunate to be given one of his goals, as Bednarek deflected his shot into the net. However, his 2 goals were the difference as Newcastle beat Southampton, despite having 9 men for a large period of the game.

Ilkay Gundogan – Manchester City – 13 pts

If only Gundogan didn’t smash his penalty into my back garden, he would’ve been the star man this week with a hat trick. He still managed 2 goals though to claim his place in the side.

Jorginho – Chelsea – 10 pts

The hop, skip and jump penalty returned as Italy midfielder Jorginho scored the winner for Chelsea in their 2-1 victory at Sheffield United.

Abdoulaye Doucoure – Everton – 10 pts

A goal and an assist for Doucoure in Everton’s entertaining 3-3 draw at Old Trafford.

Strikers

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Everton – 12 pts

Hopefully, Calvert-Lewin has sent Harry Maguire a thank you card for playing everyone onside for his dramatic late equaliser. Everton’s number 9 was also credited with an assist for the Toffees first goal.

Timo Werner – Chelsea – 10 pts

For all the stick he has been getting, from me included, Werner was superb for Chelsea. He set up Mason Mount and then won a penalty for Jorginho to slot home. Yes, he needs to score more, but more contributions like this will help his confidence.
