Who will be England's Left Back at Euro 2020?

Who will be England's Left Back at Euro 2020?

Continuing our look at the England Euro 2020/2021 squad, today we take a look over the left-backs. Who will be England’s Left Back at Euro 2020?

The Contenders

Ben Chilwell (Chelsea)

Chilwell seems to be battling Luke Shaw to be England’s starting left-back this summer. The Chelsea man has had a solid, although not spectacular, season. If he can help Chelsea into the top 4 and the Champions League final, he may secure the starting spot.

Aaron Creswell (West Ham)

As fantasy football players will know, Cresswell has had a fantastic season for West Ham. He has made plenty of assists with his superb delivery from crosses and fully deserves to be in the discussion for a place in the squad. We feel he will just miss out though.

Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

This may sound strange, as we wouldn’t put Shaw in our squad, but he has probably had the best season of anyone on this list. However, is there any point in having him and Chilwell in the squad or should we be going for someone different? We think Gareth should be going for something different.

Matt Targett (Aston Villa)

Don’t worry United fans, we’re not suggesting Targett over Shaw. While the Villa left-back has impressed this season, he is only really in this list as a filler. Good player, but not good enough for this squad.

Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

This is the man we want in the squad. He gives Southgate more attacking capabilities from the full-back spot and can easily play wing-back if a back 3 is deployed. Saka has been playing well, in a poor Arsenal team, in a more advanced role which could help us against the likes of Scotland and Czech Republic, who will likely sit back more.
